Baby, it’s HOT outside! But that doesn’t mean you have to sit in your apartment in front of the air conditioner. Indianapolis boasts a number of really fun indoor activities that are fun during any season:

Newfields
This is the Indianapolis Art Museum redefined! Stroll through the many rotating museum exhibits, take in the permanent art collections, and if you’re feeling up to it, head outside to explore the grounds. Newfields also offers its annual Summer Nights Film Series, which features popular movies each weekend outdoors through the end of August.

Sun King Brewery
Head on over to Sun King, take a tour of the brewery and hang out in the tasting room. Once a relatively small operation (and only in this downtown Indy location), the brewery has expanded substantially due to the popularity of its products.

Feel like taking a road trip? Go try out one of the beer brewer’s other popular locations in Fishers (small batch brewery and tasting room) and Carmel (a drinking, dining and entertainment experience).

The IndyCar Factory
Open Wednesday through Saturday in Speedway, the Dallara IndyCar Factory has something fun for everyone. Try out (and drive!) the street-legal 2-seater car at the facility, and see if you’ve got what it takes to be a real race car driver with the racing simulators on-site.

While you’re there, you won’t want to miss the interactive area, which includes a great education experience detailing the history, making of vehicles and ins and outs of the IndyCar experience.

Garfield Park Conservatory
For just two dollars, the Garfield Park Conservatory gets you in the door to view hundreds of plants from the world’s tropics in a climate-controlled 10,000 square facility. Stroll through to see what’s blooming and enjoy one of the many educational displays the conservatory has on-hand.

Lucas Oil Stadium
Who wouldn’t want to experience a behind-the-scenes tour of Lucas Oil Stadium, home to the famed Indianapolis Colts? Tours of the facility last approximately 90 minutes and include visits to the playing field, an NFL locker room, the press box and numerous other unique areas (depending on availability), Monday through Friday.

IMAX Movie at the Indiana State Museum
There’s nothing better than a great movie to beat the heat, and the IMAX® theater at the Indiana State Museum is the perfect place to do it. Featuring academy award-winning IMAX technology and a six-story screen, The IMAX Theater offers audiences both 2D and 3D IMAX films, as well as contemporary Hollywood movies.
